The list of assets that are World Heritage Sites in Africa amounts to 89. A total of 48 cultural, 37 natural, and 4 mixed assets make up the continent’s World Heritage list. First of all, South Africa is the first country, with 10 properties, where the South African fossil hominid site and the Mapungubwe Cultural Landscape stand out.
They are followed by Ethiopia and Morocco, both countries with 9 goods each. From Ethiopia, the Churches carved into the rock of Lalibela impress, as well as the Simen National Park. Morocco, for its part, boasts the Medina of Fez, considered the best-preserved medieval Arab city in the world, as well as the historic city of Rabat or the archaeological site of Volubilis.
