Sightseeing in Namibia never disappoints. Actually the country is a piece of desert, but… what a desert! It’s beautiful no matter where you look at it.

Skeleton Coast

Dense mists, constantly changing sandbanks and strong waves. All the elements seem to combine so that the portion of the coast that goes from Swakopmund to the border with Angola is a trap for ships.

etosha national park

Leaving Windhoek early gives you plenty of time to get to sleep in Etosha National Park (if not, it is normal to spend the night in Otjiwarongo). Etosha is one of the largest animal reserves in Africa in size (22,000 square km) and also one of the most unique since the landscape is very arid, with almost no trees.

the namib desert

The Namib desert, which for many is the most beautiful dune desert in the world, owes its red color to the high concentration of iron oxide in its sand. It is also one of the oldest on Earth: it already existed 65 million years ago. Although it stretches for 2,000 kilometers, the most visited area is the Namib-Naukluft National Park, where the famous Dune 45 and Big Daddy (170 and 325 meters high, respectively) and the valley of dead trees, Deadvlei, are located.

Kolmanskop, the abandoned mining town

Just as California experienced its gold rush, Namibia experienced its diamond rush. At the beginning of the 20th century, diamonds were discovered in an area of the Namib, near the port of Lüderitz. The influx of fortune seekers was such that in two years an entire city grew up among the dunes.
