The Kirindy Mitea Reserve is known for having an exceptional rate of endemic species. Of the 11 species of mammals that it harbors, 10 are. 100% of the 23 reptiles inventoried are also endemic, as are 33 species of the 47 species of birds that live there; in fact, it is the only place on earth where the Microcebus berthae mouse, the smallest primate in the world.

The park was created December 18, 1997 by Decree No. 97 1453 and its management was entrusted to ANGAP. It is located in the Menabe region of Madagascar.
