It is one of the great lakes in Africa, as well as more impressive, it is located on the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the African part of the Great Rift Valley.

The Lake Kivu situation is explosive and this is not a social or political observation, but a literal interpretation. Well, neither more nor less, because inside they have found more than 60 million cubic meters of methane and 300 million cubic meters of carbon dioxide, trapped between the different strata of the lake bed. Its waters can erupt violently and kill all kinds of life that it finds in the vicinity.

The largest city on its shore is Gisenyi, where you can practice water sports and admire the amazing tropical beaches. A tropical beach resort that seems forgotten, with a captivating mix of architectural styles, reddish sand beaches and an enormous number of birds. In addition, there is Bralirwa, the only brewery in Rwanda: nothing like a cold beer to dissipate stress.

Busy markets, forgotten colonial buildings, and tree-lined streets add to the city’s appeal.
