Ethiopia for culture
There are endless historical places waiting to be explored. The country also boasts incredible landscapes, ranging from impressive mountain ranges to lush forests and vast lakes, as well as beautiful local crafts.
Kenya for safaris
Kenya is one of the most popular African countries for safaris, largely because it is where the Great Migration can be seen. During this natural phenomenon, more than two million animals make a migratory circle across the plains of the Serengeti, moving from Tanzania to Kenya’s famous Maasai Mara National Reserve and back.
The Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya is possibly the quintessential place for an African safari. You can choose to stay in tented camps, lodges or private homes. There are endless activities to choose from: watch the zebra migration, see big cats up close, take a hot air balloon ride or discover the customs and traditions of the Maasai people. There are safaris for all travelers and even many affordable options.
Zambia and Zimbabwe for the falls
These two countries are home to Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world. This natural wonder of the world is a truly breathtaking sight.
There is also the possibility of fun activities such as whitewater rafting, bungee jumping and walking safaris to spot the varied fauna that inhabits the area. You can spend your evenings on a romantic sunset river cruise, complete with dinner, drinks and entertainment.
Kruger National Park, South Africa for the Big Five
This vast expanse of bushland and savannah in the Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. The Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and African buffalo) make their home in the Kruger National Park, along with hundreds of other mammals, as well as bird species such as eagles, vultures and storks.
If you want to see a good representation of African wildlife, this is probably the best place to take a driving tour. Gravel paths run through the entire park, and there are special designated areas where you can stop to eat.
