The linguistic diversity of Africa is overwhelming. In fact, between languages and dialects, the number exceeds 2,000. Many of them, such as Swahili, Arabic or Yoruba, have millions of speakers, while there are languages that are barely spoken by a hundred people.
South Africa is the country with the largest number of official languages with 11, all of them on an equal footing. These are: Afrikaans, English, Southern Ndebele, Sesoto Saboa, Sesoto, Swazi, Tsonga, Setswana, Venda, Xosa, and Zulu.
