The Volcanoes National Park, renowned for serving as the setting for the book and film “Gorillas in the Mist”, stretches along the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda, and encompasses the region of the Virunga Mountains corresponding to Rwanda. These mountains are home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Cordillera de Virunga.

Among all its extraordinary attractions, the mountain gorillas stand out. Most of its visitors come to the park motivated by the desire to come face to face with gorillas in the mist, but you can also see the rare golden monkeys, some of which have become accustomed to contact with humans. Other mammals include: jungle elephant, black duiker, buffalo, spotted hyena, and bosbock. There is also a wide range of options for hiking or climbing.

This park is one of the most exciting in Africa. Few experiences are as incredible and moving as admiring a mountain gorilla in its natural habitat.
